Use unscented (as-is) or add our Fragrances or Essential Oils at a ratio of up to 3% (use 1% or less for facial products). This is a cold mix base, meaning that heating is not recommended.

Simply add fragrance and/or color, then process by whipping with an old-fashioned electric mixer with double blades or electric stand mixer with a paddle attachment. Start with enough product to fill the volume around the beaters and begin whipping at a slow speed to break up the base. At the slow speed, add your additives. Increase the speed of the mixer to high and watch for the base to double in volume. Warning: Over-whipping more than double the original volume will cause the base to collapse. No solubilizer needed.

Add color by using our Water-soluble liquid colorants. Add up to 5% carrier oils and/or up to 10% butters but keep in mind that the greater the percentage of natural oils and butters, the more the consistency of lather will change.

Testing in small batches is always recommended.

Shea and macadamia increase the viscosity while also increasing the moisturizing ability. Avocado and hemp will decrease the viscosity but also increase the moisturizing ability. Please note that graininess or clumping may occur if you add powder or solid additives. The addition of oils can sometimes cause clumping. Pouring additives slowly while mixing may result in a smoother consistency. If product becomes grainy, you can warm it just enough to make it soft and then whip it to have a smoother consistency.

Exfoliants - Add up to 75% percent of any exfoliant such as Bath Salts, Sugar, or Coffee Bean grounds. A 50/50 mixture of Medium and Fine Sea Salt Grain Bath Salts turn our Foaming Bath Whip into a wonderful, deep exfoliating scrub.
Jojoba Beads - Colorful Jojoba Beads can be added to the base to give stunning color-speckled appearance while providing light exfoliation. Ideal for facial products.
Other Bases/Additives - Try adding small amounts of other bases for a variety of effects and uses.
